The most common reason for the legs to itch is poor hygiene, especially in the case of hairy legs of men. The hair covered skin of the legs is equally vulnerable to itching and irritation as that of the scalp. So it is very important to keep your legs clean, and wash them thoroughly when taking a shower.

For women, it is often observed that they experience the problem of itching in their legs soon after they get over with the waxing process. This may happen because the leg skin may be allergic to the wax being used. You can consult with your dermatologist and then accordingly modify the waxing process. Or you can put some anti allergic lotion on your legs before and after the wax is applied.

There are many cases where people experience intense leg itching after some rigorous work or exercise. There is very unfortunate but interesting cause behind this anomaly. Some people’s skin types are allergic to their own sweat and hence as soon as the perspiration starts the cells under the skin release histamines which are primarily responsible for itching as a defense mechanism. Although the condition is not as hopeless as it seems. For these kinds of beings, a hot water bath or shower is recommended soon after they are done with their exercise or work. The idea is not to let the sweat accumulate.

Here were a few possible causes for itchy legs, the list is bit long and it is s
uggested that you go for a thorough diagnosis before deciding upon any kind of treatment.
